This website has been designed to make it as easy and quick to navigate as possible.

Use the menu at the top of the page to enter the main sections of the site. Once you are within a section, you can get to the more detailed information via the menu that appears on the left-hand side of the screen.

Search

You can use the 'Search' box at the top right of each page to find what you are looking for.

If you do not immediately find what you are looking for try using fewer words, which should return more matches.

Tick boxes next to saved pages to select
Select 'print', 'create pdf' or 'remove' from the drop-menu
Click 'go' to action:
- For printing - a printer dialogue box will appear, select printer and print as usual
- For pdf – an open or save dialogue box will appear
- All options excluding 'remove' have 'include relevant note' feature

Create a note:

To create a note click '+Create a note'
A drop down window appears in which comments can be written
Click on 'add note' to save
Click '+Create a note' to minimise the comments window
Click 'view all' to view all saved notes
Print them with the relevant pages from the 'print basket' menu by selecting 'include notes' option or independently from 'notes basket'

Adobe PDF

Downloadable documents on this website are provided in Adobe PDF format.

Adobe PDF is a file format which saves existing documents with all their original formatting. This means that when you look at a PDF document you will see the formatting and layout that the author intended, even if you do not have the program they originally created it in.

PDF documents are the global standard for trusted electronic documents and forms.

In order to view PDF documents, you will need to have the free Adobe Reader software installed on your computer. Further information about PDFs is available on the Adobe website at get.adobe.com/reader/.

Download Adobe Reader

On the Adobe website click the 'Download' button.
Make a note of where you are downloading the installation file to (e.g. your desktop).
After the download has completed, locate the installation file on your computer and double click on it.
The installation programme should guide you through the installation process.
Once the Adobe Reader software has been installed you will be able to read Adobe PDF files.

Saving a PDF

To save a PDF from the site to your PC, right-click your mouse over the PDF link and select 'Save target as' or 'Save link as'.

If you have an Apple computer, click the link whilst holding down the 'option' key. You can then save the PDF where you want on your computer.

Accessible PDFs

We recommend that users download Adobe Reader 7.0, the latest version of the software, to access Adobe PDF files.

Adobe Reader 7.0 enables users to read and use Adobe PDF documents and forms more easily – and across multiple languages.

Adobe PDF troubleshooting

Q. I have clicked on the link but my browser has gone blank.

A. Browsers have different ways of downloading PDFs. Most browsers will ask you where you would like to download the file on your machine and show a progress meter as the file downloads. However, some older browsers may load in the PDF page by page without showing a progress meter. In fact the file is downloading – the first page should appear after a few minutes.

Q. I've downloaded the file but nothing has appeared.

A. You may need to go to where the file was downloaded on your local drive (probably your c:/windows/temp directory) and click on it from there.

Video, interactive charts and audio

To view and listen to the videos on the website, and to use the site's interactive charts, you need to have Adobe Flash Player 9 installed on your machine.

You can download Adobe Flash Player 9 for free from the Adobe website get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.

If you do not have Adobe Flash Player 9 installed on your computer, you will automatically see alternative content for anything created in Flash.

Videos will not play until you press the play button on the video player (right arrow in the centre)

Cookies

We may use 'cookies' to monitor how people use the website. This helps us to understand how the site is used so we can develop and improve its design, layout and function.

A cookie is a piece of information that is stored on your computer's hard drive which records how you have used a website. This means that when you go back to that website, it can give you tailored options based on the information it has stored about your last visit.
